Dan was born in Vadala, India, son of medical missionaries, and has lived aboard as well as in Boston, Massachusetts and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, finally settling in Middle Tennessee where he has been since 1973. He graduated from The University of The South in Sewanee, Tennessee with a degree in Mathematics and Fine Arts and has worked in the construction business
